My view - The poor are not a nuisance to be rid of like ants looking for crumbs on the kitchen floor. Let's just sweep them away and decrease their numbers so we won't be bothered by them any longer. The poor are an opportunity to practice charity and love of neighbor. The poor are a direct calling by God to us here in the spoiled West to GIVE and do unto the least of these...the key should be to eliminate poverty not eliminate the poor!
